This is a key clinical leadership position, supporting the Director of Nursing in the governance, operational oversight, and continuous quality improvement of our service.

Key Responsibilities: Support the Director of Nursing in the overall management and clinical governance of the nursing home.
Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, person-centred care.
Assume responsibility in the absence of the Director of Nursing, in line with the Health Act 2007 and HIQA National Quality Standards.
Provide strong clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship to nursing and care teams.
Maintain compliance with all statutory regulations and internal policies.
Lead safeguarding practices, ensuring timely reporting and management of concerns.
Oversee workforce planning and staffing allocation to maintain safe and effective care delivery.
Promote continuous quality improvement and professional development.
Act as a clinical resource, ensuring practice reflects current best standards.
Uphold health and safety compliance across the service.
Participate in flexible rostering, including occasional weekend or out-of-hours cover as required.
Essential Criteria: Registered General Nurse with active registration (valid PIN).
Third-level qualification in Nursing.
Minimum 6 years post-registration clinical experience.
At least 2 years' experience within a nursing home setting.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a management or senior nursing role.
Post-registration qualification in Healthcare Management (or willingness to undertake same).
Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Commitment to delivering outstanding care to older people.
Desirable: Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care.
Up-to-date certifications in Infection Prevention & Control, Manual & Resident Handling, Medication Management, Dementia Care, CPR, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training can be provided if required).
