Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Indirect Tax (VAT) Senior Manager to join our growing tax team in Balbriggan.

Reporting directly to the Tax Director, you will lead and manage the firm's VAT function, overseeing compliance, reporting, and advisory services across a diverse client portfolio.
You will play a key role in delivering strategic VAT solutions, driving process improvements, and contributing to the continued growth of the firm's tax offering.

The successful candidate will be a CTA-qualified professional with a minimum of five years' experience in VAT, bringing strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive, client-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
VAT Compliance: Oversee the VAT team to ensure accurate and timely preparation, submission, and payment of VAT returns in line with local regulations.
VAT Planning: Develop and implement strategies to optimise VAT efficiency and minimise client liabilities.
Tax Audits: Lead VAT audits, responding to tax authority queries and ensuring full compliance with audit requirements.
Process Improvement: Continuously enhance VAT processes and procedures to increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate VAT risks through proactive monitoring, analysis, and implementation of appropriate controls.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders such as audit, accounting, corporate compliance and operations teams and other UHY global network firms to address VAT-related issues and provide guidance on transactions.
Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on VAT matters to enhance awareness and compliance across the organization.
External Relationships: Maintain strong relationships with external advisors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders, keeping up to date with changes in VAT legislation to ensure continued compliance.
Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on VAT compliance, liabilities, and other related metrics to the UHY board of directors.
Client Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of clients, providing both compliance and advisory services, while overseeing VAT elements across consultancy projects.
VAT Opportunities: identify and implement VAT planning opportunities for clients.
Global Collaboration: Engage with VAT specialists across the UHY global network, including participation in international conferences and cross-border projects.
Leadership: Report directly to the Tax Director and receive full support, while managing a team of three junior tax staff to deliver on compliance, advisory, and strategic initiatives.
Education & Experience
Qualified Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA)
Minimum of 5 years' VAT experience ideally from a Practice environment
Strong technical expertise in VAT and knowledge of Irish tax legislation
Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team
Commercially aware with a proactive, client-focused approach
Organised and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ambitious and motivated, with a strong desire for continued professional development
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
Proactive, with a problem-solving mindset and a willingness to take initiative
A team player who can also work independently when required
Eager to learn and develop within a fast-paced, client-focused environment
Strong IT skills, including experience with tax software and Microsoft Office
