The Opportunity They are seeking a commercially driven and technically capable Commercial Manager to lead their estimating function and protect margin from bid stage through to final account.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands steel and CSA scopes in detail, can challenge pricing assumptions and productivity outputs, negotiate confidently with Tier 1 contractors, and protect margin while identifying commercial opportunity.
You will inherit a strong estimating team.
Your role is to lead, sharpen, and commercialise it.
Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate the internal estimating team.
Oversee tender allocation and resource planning.
Support commercial governance Chair internal bid reviews and challenge pricing logic.
Ensure tenders are risk-assessed, commercially structured, and margin-aligned.
Lead bid/no-bid decisions with senior leadership.
Review contract conditions (JCT / NEC / bespoke forms).
Structure clarifications and exclusions to protect LMH.
Convert tender allowances into structured project budgets.
Experience Required 7+ years commercial experience in structural steel or CSA packages.
Experience managing or leading an estimating team.
Experience working with Tier 1 / Tier 2 contractors.
Technical Knowledge Required Desired Structural in steel packages.
OSM modular units integrating Mech and Elec Services Personal Attributes Commercially assertive and confident.
Calm under negotiation pressure.
Detail-focused but commercially aware.
