We are seeking an experienced and compassionateDirector of Nursingto lead the clinical, operational, and people management functions of a newly refurbished nursing home in Ballygunner, Co.Waterford. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for maintaining high standards of resident care in line with national regulations and best practice.The RoleAs Director of Nursing, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, person-centred, and high-quality care. You will foster a positive culture for residents and staff while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide overall leadership, direction, and management of the nursing homeEnsure compliance with the Health Act 2007, HIQA regulations, and National Quality StandardsMaintain excellent standards of residential care, safeguarding, and resident wellbeingLead, support, and supervise clinical and non-clinical teams to promote high performance and moralePromote a respectful, inclusive, and person-centred care environmentActively support safeguarding practices, including prevention, reporting, and management of concernsOversee staffing, rostering, skill mix, and performance managementMaintain effective communication with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teamsBe available to support operational needs, including occasional night or weekend coverEducation & QualificationsThird-level degree in NursingRegistered with An Bord Altranais (active PIN required)Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (or willingness to undertake required training)Additional qualifications in gerontology or dementia care are desirableUp-to-date training in infection control, medication management, manual handling, CPR, dementia care, and safeguarding (training can be provided)Skills & ExperienceMinimum 6 years post-registration nursing experienceAt least 3 years' experience in a senior or managerial nursing roleMinimum 3 years' recent experience in eldercare nursingStrong clinical knowledge and a genuine commitment to high-quality care for older personsExcellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skillsFull Irish driving licence and access to own transportWhat We're Looking ForA strong, visible leader with a positive and inclusive management styleExcellent organisational and time-management skillsAbility to lead change, solve problems, and drive continuous improvementStrong people management, coaching, and mentoring capabilityCommitment to quality, safety, and sustainability in healthcare environmentsHealth, Safety & QualityPromote a strong culture of health, safety, and qualityEnsure accurate documentation, incident reporting, and engagement in quality initiativesMaintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and professional presentation
