Staff Grade or Senior Speech & Language Therapist - Older Persons Services (Kilkenny) Rate: €40 - €50 per hour | Full-time | Locum Emerald Locums, on behalf of our client, is recruiting a Staff Grade or Senior Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to join Older Persons Services in Kilkenny.
This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality speech and language therapy to older adults across a range of settings, focusing on communication support, swallowing safety, and maximising independence and quality of life.
Role Purpose The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive SLT assessment and intervention for older persons, many of whom present with age-related communication needs, dysphagia, or complex comorbidities.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to patient-centred care, rehabilitation, and support for families and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities Provide specialist assessment and intervention for older adults with communication and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).
Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues across hospital and community-based older persons services.
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment and care plans tailored to individual needs.
Support patients, families, and carers with education and strategies for safe swallowing and effective communication.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with CORU and HSE standards.
Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and student/junior SLT supervision as required.
Requirements Recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
CORU registration (essential).
Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience, with experience in older persons services or dysphagia management highly desirable.
Strong clinical reasoning, teamwork, and communication skills.
Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
