This person will assess how produce makes its journey through our network and onto our customers, all the time evaluating ways to improve the product integrity.This person will support the development and monitoring of our Operational standards in relation to handling and delivering Fresh produce to our customers, constantly driving continuous improvement in our operations network.Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager, this person will work very closely with our Quality Assurance and Operations teams. Supporting our colleagues through training and improvement suggestions at points of receipt, put away, replenishment, picking, loading and last mile delivery. Furthermore, keeping in close contact with our Trading Managers on day-to-day basis ensuring our standards are maintained with our supply network.Working closely with the FSQA / trading / planning team to ensure continuity of supply and a consistent high-quality offering to customers.The position requires a candidate who has strong knowledge of fresh produce with experience working in a Food distribution or manufacturing environment a distinct advantage.**Key Accountabilities:*** Drive Fresh produce quality management from receipt, replenishment, Picking, loading and transport to customer.* Lead Operational Produce Champions, training, education, compliance.* Develop / maintain KPI’s for Produce Handling, rejections, complaints.* Supplier appraisal and performance reviews.* Develop and deliver bespoke Fresh produce training for Operations.* Develop and carry out produce specific Internal audits across Group.* Carry out product and process inspections and assessments.* Drive continuous improvement and be a key ambassador for Food safety culture.* Support Operation and Sales teams regarding Food safety and quality management.* Other adhoc duties which may be required by the FSQA / Produce team.* Liaise closely with the trading teams to drive continuous improvement for stock management, rejections and correspondence with suppliers.* Implement process whereby stock could be reworked – sent to produce centre (Ready Chef).* Coach and develop operations colleagues so to improve product knowledge & product integrity.**Requirements:*** Experience in fresh produce including quality related procedures and policies.* Previous experience within agriculture and / or food industry desirable.* Previous knowledge of operational processes a distinct advantage.* Experience working on own initiative.* Understanding of customer requirements**.*** Excellent communication and influencing skills* Be a highly motivated individual with can do attitude.* Be a team player with ability to work on own initiative* Demonstrates integrity and accountability.* Flexibility in handling multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.* Customer focussed with excellent communication and computer skills.* Strong organisational skills.**Core Competencies:*** **Understanding Your Customers** – acts as a role model in personal approach to internal and external customer goals.
