The Mechanical Engineer will support the design, installation, optimisation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures safe, reliable and efficient operation of production machinery and supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput, quality, and uptime.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Equipment & System Engineering· Design, modify, and optimize mechanical components, assemblies, and systems to improve Health and Safety output and quality performance.· Evaluate equipment performance and recommend corrective actions or upgrades.· Assist in the specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of new machinery.Maintenance & Troubleshooting· Provide technical expertise to maintenance teams for diagnosing mechanical failures.· Analyse root causes of downtime and implement long-term corrective actions.· Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance plans.Process Improvement· Identify opportunities to increase equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.· Lead continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce waste and enhance productivity.· Optimise material flow, tooling, and mechanical processes.Safety & Compliance· Ensure all mechanical systems comply with OSHA, industry standards, and internal safety policies.· Participate in safety assessments, hazard analyses (FMEA), and risk mitigation planning.· Support documentation and audits related to mechanical systems and regulatory requirements.Documentation & Project Management· Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, SOPs, BOMs, and equipment manuals.· Manage engineering projects from concept through completion, including cost estimation and timelines.· Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and operations teams.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.· Minimum of 2 years' of experience in mechanical engineering from a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.· Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).· Familiarity with mechanical fabrication, machining, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation systems· Fluency in English is essential· Authorised to permanently work in Ireland.ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS:Our client is looking for people with a strong work ethic.
