Data & AI Governance Senior Manager – Overview
AXA Ireland is recruiting a Data & AI Governance Senior Manager who will shape and execute our data strategy, ensuring data is managed as a trusted strategic asset across the organisation.
Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, you will lead development and execution of a comprehensive data strategy and embed a robust data governance framework that guarantees high quality, accessible, and compliant data. You will also champion initiatives that enhance data culture, enable self‑service analytics, and support AI‑driven decision making.
This role requires a strategic mindset to connect governance, analytics, and business objectives, ensuring AXA Ireland maximises the value of its data assets. You will work closely with senior leaders, business units, and technical teams to define and implement data policies, standards, and best practices that align with AXA's vision and regulatory requirements.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office. You will spend the majority of your week away from home – either at a head office location, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What You'll Be Doing
* Develop and drive AXA Ireland's data strategy to enable business transformation, innovation, and competitive differentiation.
* Implement and maintain a comprehensive data governance strategy & framework, including policies, standards, and controls.
* Establish and monitor data quality metrics aligned with business goals and compliance requirements.
* Lead rollout of data ownership and stewardship models, clarifying roles and responsibilities across the organisation.
* Manage data cataloguing, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
* Partner with the Data & Analytics team to govern data assets effectively across their lifecycle.
* Contribute to governance initiatives that drive operational efficiency and reduce risks associated with ineffective data management.
* Support business units in implementing cost‑effective data governance solutions.
Qualifications
* 7+ years of experience in strategy, data governance, data management, data strategy, or a related field.
* Degree in Business, IT, Computer Science, or related field; data management or governance certification (e.g., DAMA‑CDMP, DCAM, Collibra Ranger) beneficial.
* Proven track record of implementing governance frameworks and policies in large organisations.
* Experience leading, developing, and managing a team.
* Familiarity with data management tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation.
* Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and deep knowledge of governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA‑DMBOK).
* Expertise in data quality management, risk management, and control frameworks.
* Ability to design and implement governance policies and standards.
* Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
This is a CF1 role allocated under the Fitness & Probity Regime, requiring enhanced background screening. You must be eligible and authorised to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
