Insurance & Risk Specialist Newbridge The Role: BnM is hiring an Insurance & Risk Specialist. The Insurance & Risk Specialist is responsible for assisting in managing the insurance programme across the BnM group, including co ordinating and assisting with the Risk Management process and co ordinating and assisting in the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) process. The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following: Insurance Placement: Co-ordinate the placement and renewal of all BnM Insurance policies, insuring assets of c€1.5billion, with an annual premium of c€5million, including the following policies, Property (Thermal electricity generation plants, wind farms, solar farm, battery plant), business interruption, employers & public liability, motor, directors & officers, cyber, professional indemnity, credit, environmental liability, travel etc. Ensuring all insurance policies are renewed with approved insurers, premiums are within budget, value for money, policy excesses are appropriate to BnM risk appetite, benchmarked to peer insurers, includes the broadest cover available in the market to the BnM group. Prepare monthly Insurance reports for management. Prepare monthly journals for Insurance and monthly Insurance reconciliations. Monitor insurance requirements in leases. Prepare annual budget for the Insurance programme. Claims Management: Co-ordinate the end to end claims process with loss adjusters, brokers, insurers, legal teams, expert witnesses (medical, engineers etc) & internal business units. Maintain all claims records, gather evidence in a timely manner for relevant stakeholders, update senior management on all open claims on a regular basis. Provide claims trend analysis and lessons learned to internal business units in order to support risk improvements. Insurance: Build & maintain effective business relationships with internal business units (finance, project managers, asset managers, procurement, legal, health & safety), insurance brokers, loss adjusters, underwriters, legal advisors etc. Prepare reports for internal senior management, insurers, risk & audit committee and auditors as required. Monitor insurance market developments and emerging risks (e.g. climate related, cyber) relevant to the Irish power generation sector. Risk Management: Assist in maintaining strategic risk registers with business units/enabling services in a timely manner, support risk management processes by integrating insurance as part of an overall business risk mitigation strategy where appropriate. Prepare risk dashboards / reports for senior management and others. Attend risk review meetings and contribute at risk meetings. Coordinate risk registers and ensure that registers are up to date and risk policy is complied with. Monitor market developments to ensure future risk policy compliance. Business Continuity: Assist in the development and maintenance of the Business Continuity Process and for all business units & critical asset operations. Support management in the event of an actual business disruption. Develop Business Impact Assessments (BIA's) with the businesses. Assist in developing Business Continuity Plans. Arrange Business Continuity training and awareness for key employees, ensuring they understand their role in business continuity and recovery. Contribute to scenario planning exercises related to energy generation & supply disruption, price shocks, regulatory changes & grid events. Support investigations into risk incidents & near misses & implement control improvements. Prepare reports on the Business Continuity System to internal management and the auditors etc as required. Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's objectives. What we're looking for: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes: Minimum 3 years' experience in Insurance, Risk, BCM, and ideally in the energy sector. Business Studies, Commerce degree or equivalent qualification. Delivery of the Insurance /BCM / Risk programmes in BnM and specific projects as they arise. Stakeholder engagement with internal business unit, senior management, external providers such as insurers, loss adjusters, brokers, legal advisors, risk advisors, BCM advisors etc. Detailed Insurance, risk and BCM market knowledge. Knowledge of all key market participants for energy sector, aware of emerging market trends & risks with ability to integrate these into insurance, risk and BCM programmes.
