Position Title: Quality Technician
Location: Athlone, Co. Westmeath
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician with a strong background in medical device manufacturing. This role requires 2–3 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing facilities, with proven expertise in performing quality inspections of implants and components throughout the production process. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring products meet specifications, drawings, and regulatory requirements, while also supporting quality documentation, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement activities.
* Perform quality control inspections of finished medical implants and in-process implants at each stage of manufacturing, ensuring compliance with specifications, engineering drawings, and regulatory requirements.
* Provide backup support to production operations (e.g., CNC machining, polishing, deburring, blasting, passivation, packaging) when appropriately trained and authorized.
* Verify compliance of manufactured products against drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
* Support first-off, in-process, and final inspections to ensure product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
* Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming material in accordance with established procedures.
* Assist in root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities as required.
* Maintain accurate inspection and quality records, ensuring traceability and compliance with ISO 13485 and other regulatory requirements.
* Liaise with operators and production teams to provide feedback on quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Support calibration and maintenance of the machines.
* Ensure compliance with site-wide health, safety, and environmental processes.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization in inspection and production areas.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, or similar role in a medical device or precision engineering environment.
* Strong knowledge of inspection methods, measuring instruments, and quality control principles.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and procedures.
* Familiarity with ISO 13485
* Hands-on experience with CNC machining or other manufacturing processes (background as a Production Operator is highly desirable).
* High attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation discipline.
* Effective problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with production and quality teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in medical device inspection and documentation.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Proficiency with inspection softwares (advantageous).
