Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer (Java) to join their high‑performing team. This is a key leadership role suited to someone who enjoys driving innovation while remaining hands‑on in software development.

You will play a central role in designing and building a suite of microservices and user interfaces, contributing directly to systems that support significant daily investment activity across the business.
As a senior technical contributor, you will help shape architecture, guide engineering best practices, and lead development initiatives while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities and Experience
Extensive experience (10+ years) in designing and developing applications using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful services
Front‑end development experience with Angular or similar frameworks
Strong knowledge of DevOps tools and practices, including Maven and Jenkins
Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Karate, Playwright, or Storybook (desirable)
Solid experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
Exposure to AWS and/or Kubernetes is advantageous
Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka is beneficial
Active involvement in automation, CI/CD pipelines, design discussions, and code reviews
