Role: People, Cost Manager - Construction
Salary: up to €80,000 + Company Car + 10% Yearly Bonus (based on business area targets)
Location: Donabate, Dublin – you must be based/located in Ireland and have working experience of the Irish construction sector/market.
You’re a driven and experienced People, Cost Manager with strong negotiation skills and a positive attitude, joining our commercial team as a senior in Donabate. You’ll use your eye for detail and proven experience in the Irish construction sector to manage the cost estimation process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all estimates.
Key to this role
People Management: Due to business growth, this is a newly created role for someone with a passion for people, innovation and change in developing a team and business function. You will be a strong people manager, responsible for providing guidance, support, development and leadership to a team of 3 estimators. You will lead the team, helping them transform and drive ongoing change to develop how the team operates, to be highly successful in developing professional excellence in the estimating function, accurately, on time, and in line with company policies and client requirements.
You will be responsible for implementing quality controls, developing BID documentation, Project BOQ and budgets, evaluating contractor and supplier bids and delivering category awards. This role requires a high level of involvement in multiple projects at any one time, while requiring the ability to focus on exact requirements on specific opportunities.
Essential Criteria
Please note the following proven skills and experience are required prior to applying:
Proven, strong people manager experience, leading, managing, developing, and motivating teams.
Proven experience working in the Irish construction market/sector.
Experience managing subcontractors.
Cost analysis experience.
Estimating / Bid / order negotiation experience within construction.
Excellent understanding and application of costs, mark-ups and margins.
Hold a relevant degree, or design or technical qualification; however, relevant experience is more important.
Passion for change, innovation and the successful growth of the team and business function.
Role responsibilities
People manage 3 estimators, leading, managing, developing, and motivating them to develop the business area.
Lead and develop professional excellence in the estimating function in support of Sales and Hire within the Irish Business Unit, accurately, on time and in line with company policies and client requirements.
Manage the cost estimation process, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and leading a team of estimators.
Implement quality control procedures to ensure all bid submissions are of the highest standard.
Provide a full and professional estimating service to support the Commercial leads in defining Scope of Modular Hire Projects. Lead cost and margin calculations with a commercial perspective on pricing to win orders.
Involve in multiple projects concurrently, focusing on exact requirements for specific opportunities.
Develop Bid Documentation, Project BOQ and Budgets.
Evaluate contractor and supplier bids and deliver category awards.
Lead or contribute to value engineering exercises to optimise project costs without compromising quality or performance.
Support the procurement process by preparing cost estimates, derogations lists and leading Contract Analysis.
