The Role
We are seeking a Platform Engineer to build and run cloud infrastructure, the platforms and tooling that let engineering teams ship products without infrastructure becoming a bottleneck. You will work primarily in GCP and Azure, writing Terraform, managing Kubernetes clusters, and building automation that enables self-service. If you have done platform engineering before, you know what this looks like: infrastructure that deploys through pipelines, scales automatically, and doesn’t require manual intervention every time someone needs something.
We are building cloud native infrastructure where manual configuration doesn’t scale. You need to think Infrastructure as Code first; if your instinct is to click through a console to fix something, this is not the role for you.
Core Responsibilities
Build and maintain GCP infrastructure and Azure using Terraform - everything as code
Run Kubernetes clusters (GKE, AKS) with Helm, Kustomize, and ArgoCD for GitOps
Maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
Set up monitoring with Grafana and Prometheus - dashboards, alerts, the works
Automate everything using Bash, Python/Ruby/Go, and Packer for images
Design cloud networking: VPCs, peering, VPNs, network policies, SDNs
Implement IAM/RBAC and authentication (SAML, OIDC, LDAP)
Manage platform services: DNS (Cloudflare), messaging (Pub/Sub, Apache MQ), API Gateways
Write documentation, build self-service tooling, and share on-call duties with the team
Nice to Have
GCP certs, Azure certs, Kubernetes CKA, experience in financial services or regulated environments, compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001), secrets management tools (Vault, Google Secret Manager), eBPF if you are into advanced networking.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
Terraform is your main tool - you write modules, not just use them
Strong Bash scripting (not copy-paste from Stack Overflow)
Python, Ruby, or Go for anything Bash can't handle
Used Packer for building images
Production Kubernetes experience (GKE or AKS)
Container security basics covered
Git beyond basic commits
Know what makes pipelines good versus bad
Networking & Security
Set up network policies and IAM/RBAC
Monitoring
Grafana and Prometheus in production
Build useful dashboards and alerts that don’t cause noise
What We Offer
Competitive salary, pension scheme, professional development budget for certifications and training, cloud platform learning resources. Hybrid working at our Kerry office.
The team is agile enough that you will have a real impact on how we build infrastructure, but big enough that you are not the only person who knows how anything works. We are trying to do platform engineering properly by building self-service capabilities, not being a ticket queue for other teams.
Note
This role requires occasional travel to our Kerry office for team meetings and collaboration. While day-to-day work can be hybrid, you need to be willing to travel to Kerry when needed.
