Role Overview
The Mechanical Projects Manager plays a pivotal role in the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires strong technical knowledge, effective team leadership, and proactive engagement with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with 10+ years' experience in a previous Project Manager role within mechanical projects, capable of leading complex projects and delivering excellence across all stages of mechanical construction.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
• Oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical projects, from planning and procurement through installation, commissioning, and handover.
* Coordinate project resources, including labour, materials, and subcontractors, to maintain efficient workflows.
* Manage procurement of mechanical packages, ensuring alignment with project cost, scope, and schedule targets.
Technical & Quality Management
* Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with statutory regulations, legislative requirements, and health & safety standards.
* Review and resolve technical issues or drawing clashes prior to installation.
* Monitor project progress, address deviations promptly, and ensure high-quality delivery from installation through commissioning.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Lead project meetings, providing clear direction, updates, and decision-making support.
* Identify, assess, and implement strategies to mitigate project risks effectively.
Leadership & Team Management
* Provide strong leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
* Ensure clear communication of expectations, roles, and responsibilities to all team members.
Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum 10+ years' experience in a Project Manager role on mechanical projects.
* 3rd-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
* Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems in the construction industry.
* Proven ability to manage complex projects, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
* Excellent organisational and time management capabilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
