Our goal is to support the mental health needs of individuals in custody. As a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team at Castlerea Prison.
This prison is a closed, medium security facility for adult males with diverse backgrounds and sentence lengths.
The appointed Psychologist will work closely with the Senior Psychologist and the MDT to assess and intervene with clients who have been referred to the IPS Psychology Service due to mental health difficulties or offence-specific needs.
Interventions may include group and 1:1 therapy sessions, as well as community-based initiatives to support clients' transition from custody to freedom.
Regular contact is maintained with external agencies involved in client resettlement, as well as their families and carers.
The IPS Psychology Service delivers an integrated care model accepting referrals for a wide range of mental health and criminogenic needs.
As a clinical or counselling psychologist, you will conduct individualized, evidence-based assessments and interventions, while also contributing to staff professional development opportunities.
Required qualifications include a postgraduate degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology recognized by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
