Offer description

Principal Objectives of Position To promote and improve the companys culture in relation to Health and Safety. To ensure that procedures and health and safety documents are maintained and updated. To ensure that the company and its management team are guided on best practice in terms of health and safety. What experience will you get. You will get hands on practical experience working in H&S, across multiple sites. You will be given responsibility to improve systems and will be assisting in the future direction of the H&S function within the company. You will gain experience in a wide range of H&S tasks and improve your task management skills. You will work within a professional and positive orientated EHS team, supported by the wider company. Providing Health and Safety advice to Management and colleagues Renewing company safety statement, risk assessments & procedures. Carry out spot checks of existing practices on sites and on the collection fleet from an H&S perspective. Supporting the company ISO team to maintain the H&S ISO:45001 Investigating accidents/incidents, ensuring all documents are collated before reporting accidents findings to Management. Management of in house Accident Reporting App and Web Portal. Reporting of relevant accidents to the HSA via their portal. Carrying out internal compliance audits with line with current EHS Legislation and best industry practice Assist with carrying out staff training with operational managers. Documenting standard operating procedures and carrying out training on procedures via toolbox talks. Reviewing third party contractor RAMS before work commences Creating internal RAMS for operational and maintenance departments. Updating site safety signage as necessary. Ensuring the occupation health programme is completed each year.( vaccination, occupational dust, occupational noise programmes, VDU assessments and fire drills) Liaise with other Departments to increase awareness about Health and Safety Ensuring third party provider paperwork is updated on file and that they are made aware of each site safety rules. Producing Monthly and Annual Health and Safety reports using recognised KPIs Any other relevant H&S tasks as discussed with the EHS Manager. Job Specification Minimum of 6 years relevant H&S experience in a similar role. Health & Safety qualification, Degree or Diploma level. Full driving License and own car Salary negotiable, depending on experience Competencies A positive attitude to finding solutions to challenges and an ability to produce relevant and workable solutions. The application should be confident to work as part of a team and also under their own initiative to drive improvements. Communication skills. Applicant needs to be confident and be able to effectively communicate with general staff and to senior management as well as regulatory staff. Excellent organisational and administrative skills. Applicant must be structured in their approach to tasks and able to record and track tasks and duties as they are progressed and completed across multiple sites. Knowledge. Application should have a broad knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety systems and legislation.
