Our client,
a fast-growing main construction contractor, is seeking an Intermediate EHS Advisor to join their team in Carlow. With a diverse portfolio spanning Commercial, Residential, and Pharma projects, this role offers a mix of on-site audits and office-based responsibilities. It's an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy site visits and are eager to grow under the guidance of a Senior H&S Manager.
Responsibilities
Site Audits & Inspections
1. Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards.
2. Address deficiencies with site supervisors and recommend improvements, reporting to the EHS Manager.
3. Maintain accurate records of all statutory inspections.
Health & Safety Inductions & Meetings
4. Deliver thorough H&S induction programs for new employees and contractors.
5. Advise on and manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
6. Organize and lead H&S meetings with contractors and subcontractors to discuss safety procedures and updates.
Safety Plans & Equipment
7. Assist site management in preparing and communicating Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS).
8. Compile, update, and disseminate site Emergency Plans.
9. Inspect and ensure the maintenance of site safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
Documentation & Compliance
10. Gather and organize information for the Safety File, ensuring it's ready for client handover at project completion.
11. Support ISO audit compliance and processes.
12. Facilitate toolbox talks and actively participate in departmental meetings to promote safety practices.
Liaison & Coordination
13. Collaborate with main contractors and their safety teams to align safety protocols.
14. Work with management to identify and address training requirements.
Requirements
15. Education: Third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
16. Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an EHS role, ideally within construction or civil contracting.
17. Certifications: Valid SAFE Pass and Manual Handling certificates.
18. Licensing: Full Irish driving license.
19. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong multitasking abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
