We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the Assistant Professor in Religious Education (Primary).
Role Profile
The School is seeking to recruit an Assistant Professor in Religious Education (Primary). The successful individual will be expected to: Teach modules in Religious Education (RE) and on the Certificate in Religious Studies programmes, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; be skilled in primary-level pedagogy in the field of RE and be very familiar with the Patron’s Programme in Catholic primary schools; support student teachers in developing theological knowledge and pedagogical skills required to teach RE and contribute to the Catholic ethos of schools; work with a team of RE lecturers in the School and also work in close association with the Mater Dei Centre for Catholic Education which offers particular support in the preparation of student teachers for work in Catholic schools; demonstrate research leadership in RE and the ability to teach across blended and online formats for diverse student groups.
Additionally, the successful individual will be expected to engage in student mentoring, supervision of research projects, support programme administration, school placements, and external engagement activities with the School. They will report to the Head of School.
Salary Scale
Assistant Professor (Above Bar) – €64,583 – €103,501. PhD is required for the Above Bar scale.
Assistant Professor (Below Bar) – €48,940 – €66,558.
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.

Additional Information: This role does not meet criteria for a Critical Skills permit as stipulated by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment.
