Security Engineering Specialist

Salary Guide: €85,000 - €110,000 DOE
A large global technology organisation in Dublin is growing its security engineering function and is looking for someone who can support secure solution design, assess new technologies, and guide teams on best-practice security controls. This role suits an engineer who is comfortable reviewing architectures, analysing risk, and working closely with network, cloud and application teams to ensure new and existing systems are built securely.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Work with engineering teams across infrastructure, cloud and applications to review designs and provide clear security recommendations.
2. Support secure build standards, helping teams align to internal policy and industry frameworks.
3. Carry out security assessments on new technologies, cloud services and third-party tools.
4. Highlight risks and propose practical mitigation steps across networks, platforms and applications.
5. Review configurations, firewall rules and access controls to ensure they meet expected security standards.
6. Contribute to developing technical security requirements and documentation.
7. Assist in proof-of-concept testing with internal teams and external vendors.
8. Investigate policy gaps and help drive improvements across security processes.
9. Support ongoing alignment with industry frameworks such as NIST, PCI, ISO-based controls, etc.
What You Should Bring
10. 5+ years' experience in security engineering, security architecture, or a similar technical security role.
11. Good understanding of network security fundamentals, access control, firewalls and system hardening.
12. Experience reviewing cloud or on-prem infrastructure designs.
13. Ability to assess risks in technical environments and translate findings into clear actions.
14. Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, PCI-DSS, ISO standards, .
15. Strong communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams.
16. Experience producing assessment reports or technical recommendations.
Nice to Have
17. Exposure to secure SDLC, DevSecOps or CI/CD environments.
18. Experience with automation, scripting or configuration tools.
19. Cloud security certifications or security industry certifications (CISSP, GCIH, OSCP, .
20. Understanding of container platforms or modern networking concepts.
