Facilities & Utilities Engineer – 6-Month Contract (Limerick)Location:Limerick, IrelandDuration:6 months (with potential for extension)Start Date:ImmediateSector:Life Sciences / Advanced ManufacturingA leading manufacturing organization in Limerick is seeking aFacilities & Utilities Engineerto join their growing Utilities team on a 6-month contract. This role focuses on sustaining operations while also contributing to ongoing improvement and project initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure reliable operation and compliance of all utility systems that support production.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day engineering support for utilities and facilities systems to ensure reliable, compliant operation.Work closely with the maintenance team to deliver sustaining activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Support small to medium-scale improvement projects, including filtration upgrades, software enhancements, and vendor-led modifications.Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of utility system issues, ensuring timely resolution.Manage and update technical and operational documentation in line with quality system requirements.Support permit-to-work, risk assessment, and contractor safety management processes.Use Maximo as the CMMS platform for maintenance tracking and planning.Prepare and execute testing and validation protocols (FAT, SAT, IQ) for facility and utility systems.Work collaboratively with vendors and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of maintenance and project work.Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and environmental standards at all times.Support the development of new processes and documentation as part of a growing utilities team.Systems and Equipment ExposureUtilities include chemical systems, solvent delivery, IPA, and other treatment systems.Experience working in or around ATEX-rated (explosive atmosphere) environments is an advantage.Involvement in filtration systems, process utilities, and software-based improvement initiatives.Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory documentation.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.5+ years' experience in a facilities, utilities, or maintenance engineering role — ideally in a regulated or manufacturing environment (life sciences, pharma, food, or industrial manufacturing).Hands-on experience with maintenance systems (Maximo preferred).Strong knowledge of facility and utility systems, including HVAC, process gases, water treatment, and clean utilities.Experience working in GMP or other regulated quality environments is an advantage.Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and vendor management skills.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a new, growing utilities team.What's on Offer6-month contract role with immediate start .Exposure to complex utility and facility systems in a dynamic life sciences environment.Competitive hourly/daily rate and opportunity for contract extension.Hands-on, visible role in a supportive and growing engineering function.
