Principal Design and Development Engineer – Galway, Ireland

Responsibilities
* Actively participate in all areas of new product development including design, technology development & advancement, automation, vendor management, and project management.
* Provide leadership in technical innovation across the department.
* Progress a project from concept to commercialization; contribute on product, process, engineering, and leadership fronts.
* Resolve technical challenges with existing processes and technologies.
* Develop best-in-class technologies using DRM or similar methodology, 3-D drawing/printing, and augmented reality for manufacture of new medical device product ranges.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, execute and deliver New Product Development requirements.
* Lead technology process innovation to improve quality, reduce variation, and develop automated or semi-automated systems.
* Lead and support process development, characterization and validation for new product introduction.
* Participate in cross-site technical forums and build a professional network.
* Define and implement strategic goals in the technical community aligned with the business unit strategy.
Qualifications
* Third level degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or related field; 7+ years in a similar role preferred.
* Strong passion for engineering concepts and principles; interest in how and why things work.
* Experience in medical device product and process development with a track record in innovation and project/program management.
* Expertise in concept development and selection, technology evaluation, driving solutions to complex problems, process design and development, materials, design for Six Sigma, CAD (SolidWorks preferred), statistics, process validation and control.
* Dynamic team player with cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Excellent communication skills in English; highly organized with strong presentation and project management abilities.
* Proven ability to drive large-scale technical initiatives.
