Overview
Boards of Management in secondary schools comprise 4 trustees, 2 teachers and 2 parents of students in the school - a total of 8 members. All members are appointed by the Trust. There are about 6 meetings of the board per year. One of the four trustees will be appointed as chairperson of the board.
Induction training for new members
New members are asked to attend a one-day training course on any of Saturdays 8th, 15th or 22nd November. The training is offered at various venues around the country - Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Mayo, Westmeath and Kilkenny.
Skills and qualifications
We hope to attract candidates with skills/knowledge relating to:
* Social Justice and Caring for Others
* Education
* Finance
* Human Relations
* Law
We do not expect any one applicant to have all these skills but we hope that the full board will have them all.
Attendance at school functions
The chairperson and other members may like to attend school functions such as celebrations and graduation day but this is optional.
Term of office
The term of the board is 3 years, starting on 16th October 2025.
