The Automation Engineer will play a key role in supporting, developing, and optimising automation systems within a highly regulated pharmaceutical batch‑processing environment.
This position requires strong hands-on experience with Emerson Delta V, deep understanding of ISA‑88 (S88) batch control standards, and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using Emerson Delta V DCS in alignment with site and global standards.
Configure and optimise batch processes following ISA‑88 (S88) standards, including recipe development, equipment modules, phase logic, and control strategies.
Troubleshoot and resolve automation issues to ensure high availability and reliability of manufacturing systems.
Support system upgrades, migrations, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Participate in automation design reviews, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and validation activities in compliance with GMP and GAMP 5.
Work closely with process engineering, operations, and quality to ensure automation supports production needs.
Develop and maintain technical documentation including URS, FDS, SDS, and test protocols.
Provide technical input during change controls, deviations, and root cause investigations.
Support data integrity, cybersecurity, and automation system lifecycle management.
Required Experience & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Years of hands-on experience with Emerson Delta V in a regulated manufacturing environment (pharma/biotech preferred).
Strong knowledge of batch processing and ISA‑88 (S88) standards.
Proven experience in automation troubleshooting, control logic development, and system configuration.
Solid understanding of GMP, GAMP 5, and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
Experience participating in commissioning, qualification, and validation activities.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desired Skills (Nice to Have)Experience with PI Historian or similar data systems.
Knowledge of automation network infrastructure, cybersecurity, or virtualization.
Experience with automation change management processes.
Exposure to other automation platforms (PLC/SCADA).
