Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Access Consultant to join our team in Ireland. The successful candidate will contribute to a broad range of projects nationwide — including large‑scale residential and commercial developments, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, and public infrastructure.
This position offers the opportunity to lead on accessibility and inclusive design initiatives, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that values innovation, integrity, and the creation of inclusive spaces for all users.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement access strategies and inclusive design solutions across all project stages.
* Undertake accessibility audits and assessments of both new and existing buildings, including refurbishment projects.
* Review and advise on architectural and engineering drawings to ensure compliance with Part M of the Building Regulations and relevant accessibility standards.
* Prepare and coordinate Disability Access Certificate (DAC) applications, including supporting documentation and drawings.
* Provide design advice and technical input to clients and project teams to enhance accessibility and user safety.
* Conduct on‑site inspections to review progress and confirm compliance with Building Control (Amendment) Regulations (BCAR).
* Liaise and collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and fire safety consultants on integrated design solutions.
* Produce detailed technical reports and recommendations in line with best practice and legislation.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Degree educated in a relevant field such as Architecture, Building Surveying, Construction Engineering, Occupational Therapy, Industrial Design, or Disability Studies.
* A postgraduate qualification in Universal Design, Inclusive Design, or Accessibility is advantageous.
* In‑depth knowledge of Part M of the Irish Building Regulations and the DAC application process.
* Familiarity with international standards such as ISO 21542, EN 17210, or EN 17161.
* Proven experience in accessibility auditing, site inspections, and identification of design or construction non‑compliances.
* Strong spatial understanding and proficiency in interpreting technical drawings.
* Excellent communication skills — written, verbal, and visual — with the ability to prepare clear, evidence‑based reports.
* Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and confidence working independently as well as part of a design team.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RIAI, SCSI, Engineers Ireland, or similar).
* Experience mentoring junior staff or leading project teams.
* A proactive approach to continuous professional development and a strong personal commitment to inclusive design.
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel for site work as required.
