BackgroundAll learners deserve access to quality education—and quality education gives learners the keys to future economic opportunity. Leveraging technology and training, Team4Tech builds capacity for community-based nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) serving under-resourced contexts worldwide, improving education that ultimately prepares learners for better jobs. Serving education NGOs across multiple continents, Team4Tech provides access to:a global, online Community of Practice ) (COP)facilitated regional hubs for localized collaborationsupport from skilled volunteers and educational resource partnersfunding, amplification, and coachingStarting in October 2023, Team4Tech and Fab Inc. partnered to launch AI-for-, ) bringing cutting-edge AI tools to nonprofit organizations and their learners in under-resourced communities worldwide, with an initial focus on Africa. The mission of our collaborative initiative is to democratize access to AI, ensuring equitable learning opportunities for all children and educators, regardless of their socio-economic status. The project, funded by the Gates Foundation, engages nonprofit staff and educators in uncovering biases and designing and implementing practical AI tools, all within a knowledge hub that provides access to guidance and open-source code for building technology.AI-for- ) incorporates several components, including mapping AI services and policies in the education sector, assessing the pedagogical knowledge of different AI models, and developing quality assurance frameworks for AI-driven EdTech products. Team4Tech leads training activities for the initiative, helping NGO staff and government officials integrate AI solutions in their work to enhance educational access and quality. We recently launched a dedicated training hub within our Community of Practice and developed 18 structured sessions covering AI fundamentals, tools, and educational applications. Over 220 participants completed these pilot trainings, coming from organizations that serve more than 400,000 learners. The program achieved an 80% completion rate and a notable increase in participant knowledge about AI, as evidenced by an average pre-test score of 54% and a post-test average of 99%. In addition, 100% of participants indicated that they would recommend the course to others.Consultancy ObjectivesWith these strong results from the pilot trainings, Team4Tech and Fab, Inc. are now developing plans to scale training activities to reach more educators and learners through partnerships with government education systems in Africa. This effort began in the the second half of 2025 with the launch of a cohort-based training and coaching program for a select group of non-profit and social enterprise organizations that are already working on AI in East and West Africa and have the potential to scale their AI solutions significantly by working with their ministries of education at national and subnational levels. This cohort, called Accelerating Your Work on AI for Education, will provide a structured learning opportunity for education-focused organizations that includes 8 virtual cohort meetings, self-paced coursework in Team4Tech's online Community of Practice ), access to training materials, and ongoing coaching and technical assistance. The AI use cases these organizations are focusing on include lesson planning and creation of teaching and learning materials, teacher professional development and coaching, and student learning assessment.Team4Tech now seeks to hire a consultant to provide AI technical expertise to this cohort of organizations. The consultancy will include activities such as participating in weekly planning and oversight meetings, contributing knowledge on the state of the art in AI for education in Africa during the training course development phase, reviewing and providing inputs on specific course materials such as slide decks and handouts, participating as an expert facilitator during virtual cohort sessions, developing tailored coaching materials and run coaching sessions for participating organizations on requested aspects of AI in education while the course sessions are running, continuing to provide ongoing coaching after the sessions end to help each organizations to develop, implement, and measure outcomes of a detailed road map for scaling up their AI solution. The consultant will also participate in periodic pause-and-reflect sessions to help document experiences, lessons learned, and future recommendations from the training program, and document AI use cases from the partner organizations to facilitate knowledge-sharing with external audiences about the training program and its impacts.Specific details on the consultancy timing, activities, and deliverables are described below.Consultancy Dates and LocationDates: 5 January August 2026Location: Africa-Based Position (Remote via Zoom, email, Slack, Google products, and other means of communication)Consultancy ActivitiesTeam4Tech anticipates that the consultant will dedicate approximately 40 hours (5 working days) per month over 8 months for a total of 320 hours (40 days), as described in the table.Work PerformedDeliverablesTime FrameApprox.
