This position will be joining a European Legal team consisting of approximately 28 people across 12 countries. As a member of the regional European Legal team, you will provide support and guidance directly to the Head of Legal for MetLife Europe.

MetLife Ireland is located in Dublin and Galway. Dublin serves as our Operational Headquarters for Europe. Both locations support our broader EMEA and global functions, hosting teams in Actuarial, Audit, Compliance, Finance, IT, Legal, Operations, Risk, and Treasury.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide accurate, prompt, and relevant legal advice to internal stakeholders on various legal matters including contracts, transactions, and legal developments.
2. Support MetLife Europe in achieving its objectives.
3. Minimize legal risks by identifying, managing, and reporting activities or transactions that pose material legal risks.
4. Offer guidance on legal issues for cross-functional projects such as new business initiatives, M&A, outsourcing, reorganizations, and data privacy.
5. Develop innovative solutions to optimize legal resource use.
6. Monitor industry and market developments related to legal best practices.
7. Build effective relationships within MetLife Europe and globally.
8. Collaborate with the wider legal group to maximize efficiencies.
Required Qualifications
* Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably Irish qualified (Solicitor or Barrister).
* Proven ability to build partnerships and maintain stakeholder trust, with excellent communication and organizational skills, capable of advising senior executives.
* Experience in corporate law and contracts.
* Skilled in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
* Experience advising on corporate law issues within companies.
Additional Skills
* Experience in multi-national insurance or financial services companies is advantageous.
* Knowledge of Irish company law, insurance, and regulatory frameworks is preferable.
* Experience with Irish or EU ESG legal frameworks is helpful.
* Commercially minded, solutions-oriented, and a team player.
* Strong corporate governance skills.
* Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and think analytically.
* Excellent influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
