Stores & Warehouse Operative Role
This is a key position within our organisation, responsible for managing daily stores operations. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a passion for stores or warehouse operations.
About the Role:
We are seeking an organised and efficient Stores/Warehouse Operative to manage our inventory and supply chain. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels, processing orders, and ensuring materials are available when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain an organised and clean stores area, performing regular stock checks and cycle counts.
* Issue parts and materials accurately, updating stock levels in ERP systems.
* Verify incoming goods for accuracy, damage, and quantity, recording accordingly.
* Ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained and re-ordered as necessary.
* Prepare parts and materials for engineers, customers, and couriers.
* Handle safe loading/unloading of vehicles and assist team members where required.
* Lock/unlock stores areas as needed.
Order & Delivery Management:
* Manage end-to-end order processing.
* Conduct occasional collections and deliveries of parts and materials.
* Liaise with suppliers to track deliveries and resolve discrepancies.
* Attend on-site meetings to review performance and support improvements.
System & Compliance:
* Use ERP systems (e.g., IBCOS) to manage stock data and order records.
* Adhere to site and company Health & Safety policies.
* Wear PPE correctly and maintain a safe working environment.
Customer & Team Support:
* Represent the business professionally with engineers, customers, and vendors.
* Provide support to purchasing and finance teams.
* Support and collaborate with engineering and workshop staff.
Skills & Attributes Required:
* Previous experience in a similar stores/warehouse role (ideally within construction or engineering).
* Background in procurement and stock management.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of IBCOS is a plus.
* Forklift licence (desirable).
* Full clean driving licence (essential).
* Strong organisation skills and a keen eye for detail.
* Excellent communication skills and telephone manner.
