Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board (DDLETB) serves the three county council areas of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, South Dublin and Fingal and a population of 862,468 people. The administrative area covered by Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB reaches from Balbriggan in north County Dublin, to Dún Laoghaire in south County Dublin and Lucan in west County Dublin. As a statutory body, DDLETB has responsibility for a wide and varied suite of education and training services including Primary, Post Primary, Further Education and Training (FET) settings and Youth Services.

In 2025, over 5,000 staff were employed in DDLETB, and the organisation provided services to over 85,000 learners who participated in the education and training services provided by DDLETB.

Overview of the Role

This role will provide support to the DDLETB governance framework and ensure relevant legislation, policies and processes are delivered in a compliant manner. Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will raise awareness and understanding of the governance framework, while focusing on the continued improvement/development of our governance systems/processes.

Your goal will be to preserve DDLETB's integrity by making sure it stays on a lawful and ethical course.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Support the governance functions of the organisation (including the Board, Finance Committee and Audit and Risk Committee) to ensure it is efficient and effective, and supported in its decision-making;
* As required by the internal governance framework, legislation and regulation, document meetings, including decisions, and ensure the actions arising from decisions are taken;
* Support and co-ordinate the Board election process;
* Support the delivery of governance inductions for new board and executive members;
* Maintain and continuously review the Corporate Governance Registers;
* Review and contribute to the development of organisational governance controls, policies and associated documents that set out how the organisation operates in a compliant manner with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness;
* Work with internal and external auditors in the co-ordination of audits and in responding to audit questions and findings;
* Support the development, delivery and implementation of the organisation's multi-year strategic plan
* Support and co-ordinate the delivery of ICT solutions to support the governance framework;
* Maintain relevant Board information on SharePoint and the corporate website );
* Keep up to date with the latest regulatory developments within or outside the sector as well as evolving best practices in compliance control;
* Prepare reports for senior management and Board/Committees of DDLETB as appropriate.
* Provide administrative support for the quarterly risk register process, including updating entries with new information from risk owners and assisting in the compilation of data for management reports.
* Administer the central log of audit findings by accurately uploading new issues, assigning them to designated responsible persons, and tracking progress against established closure deadlines.

Desired Skills and Experience

* Experience and understanding of compliance and risk management;
* Knowledge of the sector's standards and regulations including legal requirements and controls;
* Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping
* A business acumen partnered with a dedication to compliance;
* Methodical and diligent with planning abilities;
* An analytical mind able to "see" the complexities of procedures and regulations;
* Excellent communication skills;
* Integrity and professional ethics;
* Teamwork skills;
* Attention to detail.

Salary Scale:

€ 51,723 p.a. - € 58,078 p.a.

Long service Increment 1, €59,966 after three years satisfactory service at the maximum.

Long Service Increment 2, €61,865 after three years satisfactory service at LSI 1

New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale.

Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of current experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.
