We are looking for a
Microarchitecture Engineer
to join a global semiconductor powerhouse in
Cork
.
This role focuses on developing next-generation high-performance, low-power processors, working closely with architects from the early concept phase through delivery.
Responsibilities
Partner with CPU modelling teams to explore and refine performance strategies.
Define microarchitecture specifications and guide them from concept to implementation.
Lead RTL design with attention to performance, power, area, and timing.
Contribute to functional and performance verification activities.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, physically validated designs.
Qualifications
Master's or PhD
Strong knowledge of microprocessor architecture, with skills in one or more of: instruction fetch/decode, branch prediction, instruction scheduling/register renaming, out-of-order execution, integer/floating-point execution, load/store operations, prefetching, and cache/memory subsystems.
Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL, simulation environments, and waveform debugging tools.
Solid grasp of logic design principles, including timing and power considerations.
Familiarity with low-power and high-performance design trade-offs in CPU microarchitecture.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
