What will you get?
Our Graduate Development Programme is a structured two-year scheme designed to support your development at the start of your Jacobs career journey. Through a combination of blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking, you will establish yourself as knowledgeable and competent across four key focus areas: human skills, consulting skills, champion our strategy and your passions. The GDP allows you to customise your learning journey to reflect your interests, career goals and technical skillset – creating a graduate experience that is unique to you. The programme is on-the-job focused, with learning shaped by you together with your manager and mentor.
The programme is more than a stepping stone. It is a launchpad for your career, offering tools, experiences and support to work on meaningful projects and collaborate with industry leaders to deliver outcomes and solutions for complex challenges.
About the opportunity
The Jacobs Cities & Places (C&P) team creates thriving places—from regions, cities, neighbourhoods and communities through to individual buildings—using an integrated design approach. We have a tremendous opportunity to build on our strengths and develop an interdisciplinary planning, design and delivery practice that is uniquely Jacobs, setting the direction for the industry and bringing together the best design thinkers, disruptors, technical experts, visionaries and storytellers. Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, designers, place-makers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative value design solutions for clients domestically and internationally.
Role responsibilities
As a Graduate Project Manager you will support the Project Manager and develop your skills in:
* Client and stakeholder management with the client and a wide range of public and private stakeholders to collaborate towards a successful outcome
* Cost control – estimating, forecasting and monitoring project costs to identify issues
* Schedule control – planning project timelines and monitoring progress against the schedule
* Quality control – ensuring quality assurance processes are followed to deliver high-quality outputs
* Contract management – understanding the contract to communicate clearly with the client
* Team development – supporting the development of a high-performing team to achieve project outcomes
* Technical development – building understanding of the technical aspects of the sector
You will be supported through the Jacobs Project Management Advancement Program and development through professional bodies such as the Association of Project Managers or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
The start date for this position is September 2026.
What you'll need
* Be working towards a relevant Degree or Master’s qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building Services or related fields
* A flexible self-starter who is keen to drive your career forward
* Adaptable to change with a thirst for learning new things
* You must have permanent right to work in the UK
