Art & Design Technician, 3D Workshop (Permanent Wholetime) (Reference: 759/2024) Job Description The School is seeking to appoint a Permanent Wholetime Art & Design Technician who will work primarily in the schools 3D Workshop. The Technician may be required to support some of the schools other facilities, such as our Print Workshops as required. Based in the East Quad, Grangegorman, the 3D Workshop is the heart of the School of Art & Design and is used by students from almost all programmes for both structured classes and independent learning. The workshop is over 500m2 in area and contains equipment and areas for students to produce work in different materials including wood, metal, ceramics and plastics. In particular the workshop is used by undergraduate and postgraduate students from Product Design (to produce and test prototypes), Interior Design (for classes such as Structure & Materials), Furniture Design (for production of furniture and lighting pieces), Visual Merchandising (to produce parts of their display designs) and Fine Art (to produce sculptures and ceramics). The workshop contains a wide range of equipment including: - Large scale woodwork machinery such as a Table Saw, CNC Router, Band Saws, Sanders etc - Metalwork machinery such as a Welders, Pillar Drills, Chop Saws etc, - Ceramics equipment including Kilns - Plastic processing machinery including a Vacuum Former, Laser Cutters, 3D Printers. The workshop also contains a large amount of hand tools. The Technician will be responsible to the Head of School and Senior Technical Officer for the administration and development of technical facilities within the School. S/He will be required to work closely with students, management, academic, technical and other staff. Hours of Work:A 36.5 hour working week is in operation. Location: TU Dublin Grangegorman Salary: The Technician Salary Scale is: €38,419 - €54,341 Appointments will be made at the appropriate point on the appropriate scale.
