We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team on a contract basis. The role involves the design and development of mechanical systems and components across the full product lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to manufacture, assembly, and commissioning. This position offers strong exposure to technically complex projects and the potential for longer-term employment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components to meet project and customer requirementsProduce detailed 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation using CAD softwareGenerate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering change documentationWork closely with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated design solutionsSupport design reviews, prototype builds, testing, and validation activitiesEnsure designs comply with applicable standards, safety requirements, and best engineering practicesApply design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly principlesProvide technical support during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phasesAssist with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiativesRequired Qualifications & ExperienceDegree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineProven experience in mechanical design within an industrial or engineering environmentStrong experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerancingAbility to produce clear, accurate engineering drawings and documentationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a project-driven teamExposure to pneumatic, hydraulic, or motion control systemsExperience working in regulated or standards-driven environmentsPrevious experience working in a contract or project-based roleInitial 6-month contractCompetitive daily or hourly rate (DOE)Opportunity to convert to a permanent staff position based on performance and business needs
