The Role of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Minor Illness
Job Purpose
The main purpose of the cANP post is to develop the job description and supporting documentation under the direction of the Health Care Providers Advanced Practice Stakeholder Governance Group.
To enable the individual nurse to meet the NMBI Criteria for Registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner as set out in Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI, 2017).
Key Responsibilities
* Develop pathways for ambulatory presentations
* Collaborate with the emergency nursing and emergency medicine team
* Work primarily in the ambulatory stream with a high degree of collaboration with the SIFT/triage team
* See, diagnose, and treat ambulatory presentations
* Develop further pathways for ambulatory presentations
* Audit the service and develop KPIs
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, candidates must:
* Be a Registered Nurse on the NMBIs Active Register or entitled to be so registered
* Have a broad base of clinical experience relevant to the advanced field of practice
* Be eligible to undertake a Masters Degree (or higher) in Nursing or a Masters Degree which is relevant or applicable to the advance field of practice they are working in
* Demonstrate I.T. skills including excellent keyboard skills
* Haves experience in teaching and assessing junior staff/nursing students
