Overview
The Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) is a Research Centre and Technology Gateway that is a collaboration between Munster Technological University and the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest.
The CABR Technology Gateway is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27.
CABR responds to the challenges of biotech, food and life science industries through the sustainable development of viable and cost-effective processes and products from bio-resources.
This collaborative and risk management approach improves our client's competitiveness and competence and facilitates the transfer of these innovative scientific solutions.
CABR have significant expertise in biotechnology and cell culture and deliver a range of projects for industry to help them to solve specific R&D challenges.
Position
Vacancy for a Research Assistant with high self-motivation and excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver a range of industry projects, predominantly associated with tissue culture and bioassays.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a minimum of a BSc degree in a biological science discipline or related science field.
Requirements:
Essential:
BSc in a biological science discipline including at least 1 year's relevant mammalian cell culture experience in academia or industry
Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills
Good organisational skills
Report writing experience
Practical experience of data analytics, statistical packages and presentation techniques
Desirable:
Experience in biotechnology and/or microbiology
Experience in biological extract preparation
Experience of delivering industry projects
Responsibilities
Work under the direction of the group leader
Plan and coordinate biotechnology and cell culture studies
Prepare study reports
Work with other team members as directed by the group lead
Contribute to efficient running of the laboratory
Salary
This post is available on a fixed term basis for an initial 6-month period (maternity leave cover).
The salary for this position is Point 1: €33,291 to Point 4:€35,413.
