OverviewEHS Management system and Process/ Technical Safety Management into site day to day operations, EHS Culture and functional awareness.Develop, implement, and continuously improve the EHS strategy in alignment with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.Lead EHS risk management across all functions, ensuring proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of potential hazards.Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders to integrate EHS into all business planning and decision-making processes.Monitor and report on key EHS metrics and use data-driven insights to influence decision-making and policy development.Drive sustainability, climate risk, and environmental responsibility initiatives in partnership with internal stakeholdersStakeholder management for compliance including training and awareness.Prioritise and manage resources for chemical, EHS, Utilities and process safety compliance.Ensure highly competent Management Structures in place for EHS and Process Safety.As a key member of the site leadership team - influencing the broader site agenda and ensuring consistency of EHS approach/ best practice development across the Operations agenda including Process Safety awareness.

EHS Standard Owner and SME for assigned standards.Ensure effective ownership and management of myEHS onsite.Ensuring compliance to health, safety and environment legislation, ensuring appropriate communications with the HSA, EPA, IAA and PGCS EHS Director as appropriate.Year on year improvement in EH&S output KPI's to achieve those of a Sustainable EH&S Culture i.e.
in terms of Lost time Injury rate, PepsiCo Reportable Injury rate, Recon metrics.
Development of Process Safety KPIs for Upper Tier COMAH site.Ensuring all documentation relating to Health and Safety in the workplace is kept up to date and that notification and reporting procedures are maintained.Evaluation of what Health and Safety training is required and ensuring that appropriate courses are available to meet this training requirement.Organisation of Safety Committees as part of the company consultation process.Maintaining adequate sources of information on health and safety topics for employee/employer consultation.Investigation of accidents/near misses when required.Working proactively with Occupational Health adviser/HR in areas of absence and accident management/rehabilitation programmes, health surveillance and wellness.Play an active role in the PGCS EH&S Management meetings, creating strategy and devising the tactical steps required to achieve plant and Sector targets.Improving compliance for relevant internal and external audit standards, e.g.
PepsiCo GEHSMS Global Environmental Health and Safety Management system.Ensure adequate evacuation and response arrangements are in place for fire and emergency situations for both internal and external scenarios.
Continue to build site ERT and ICT programmes.Liaise with Corporate Communications on strategy for external communications e.g.
external agencies, neighbours, local community.Drive waste stream management activities for the site.Liaise with Manufacturing, Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure site meets requirements of Wastewater treatment licence.Plays a key role in site Green teams, resource conservation (Sustainability & pep+) energy, waste & water management on site including continuous improvement measures.Carrigaline is the only Upper Tier COMAH site in the network.
There is a requirement for EHS Manager to be the face of the company dealing with external regulatory bodies on a regular basis; there is strong credibility required of the individual.
There is criticality in the expertise, leadership maturity, communications and credibility around the role and hence in level of role is critical.Compliance of all safety reports issued to external authorities.Implementation of a Process Safety Management system.Development of a Process Safety Culture onsite.Process Safety training and awareness.Implementation of Significant modification assessment process with regard to management of change control on site.External Emergency Plan.Liasion with External Emergency Services on External Emergency Plan.Liaise with Process Safety Engineer to build Process Safety Management system.Implementation of Oil/Chemical Spill Response Plan.Liasion with Corporate Communications to develop comms plan for impacted neighbours and local community.Prioritise and manage resources for process safety compliance.ResponsibilitiesOversight of all EHS activities of the largest PGCS site in terms of revenue & 2nd largest in terms of liquid vols.Lead Utilities team, covering Waste Water Treatment, Reverse Osmosis Water, Waste & all other site Utilities including direct reporting line for team of 6 frontline & 3 EHS professionals (2 x L7, 1 L6) & 1 contractor.COMAH Stewardship of the site ensuring compliance with all Upper-Tier COMAH regulatory directives utilising Management of Change processes to ensure full licence to operateLeading water efficiency agenda on-site, driving projects to deliver 2030 water reduction targets.Implementing Culture based safety (Courage to Care) agenda & providing inspirational leadership of the agenda.QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or related field.Minimum of 5-8 years' experience in an EHS leadership role.Five years previous experience in a standalone & management safety role in a FMCG environment.3+ years experience COMAH site and/or Process Safety Qualification.Knowledge of Environmental management systems for leadership and management.Knowledge and experience of Utilities Unit Operations desirable including WWTP and Purified Water.Demonstrable prior experience of leading and managing teams.Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship management skills.
Able to inspire and lead others without line management authority.Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate at all levels.Ability to guide and influence the agenda at all levels and to get all employees actively engaged in the EHS programme.Previous people management experience.Knowledge of legal/working requirements of Irish H&S at Work, COMAH directive as well as relevant and current Environmental legislation.Ability to coach and support others to ensure requirements understood/met in a pro-active style.Ability to carry out EHSMS audits as an internal auditor, coaching and mentoring auditees to develop their part of the programme.
