Job Title: Senior Sourcing Specialist Secondary Packaging
Introduction to role:
Are you ready to lead strategic sourcing for packaging components? The Senior Sourcing Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Global Strategic Sourcing, focusing on reducing costs and enhancing customer service. This key role supports Alexion’s Packaging Operations in Dublin, Ireland, where your critical thinking and negotiation skills will be vital.
Accountabilities:
1. Sourcing/Negotiation
* Lead sourcing initiatives for all Packaging Components at the Dublin Packaging facility.
* Manage MRP and purchasing data in SAP to ensure timely procurement for production.
* Collaborate with Operations to maintain safety stock and manage material expiry of secondary packaging components.
* Monitor market trends to support internal customers.
* Guide cross-functional teams through sourcing and procurement processes.
* Resolve supplier issues proactively to prevent production impacts.
* Negotiate financial terms and manage supplier relationships.
* Develop and enforce supplier Service Level Agreements and measure performance.
* Coordinate with the Artwork team and Suppliers for new color standards and product launches.
* Collaborate with clinical teams for stock transfer of clinical materials.
1. Business Partnership
* Manage multi-location relationships to maximize value in Supplier Management.
* Optimize vendor base and services with business partners and Procurement colleagues.
* Work with finance and business units to support sourcing plans and continuous improvement.
* Support manufacturing operations in Ireland as needed.
2. Leadership
* Educate users on procurement policies and procedures through training.
* Develop vendor performance metrics and manage contracts and disputes effectively.
Essential Skills/Experience:
* 3+ years in diverse purchasing roles, preferably in pharmaceutical/manufacturing environments.
* Experience in strategic sourcing projects.
* Experience in packaging components sourcing with a focus on success in this area.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
* Fluent in English.
* Service-oriented, reliable, with professional maturity.
* Experience with SAP or similar systems.
* Ability to adapt to a multicultural, virtual environment.
