The WPEP placement would include assisting the floral director with the daily operation of the business with a focus on floral preparation. The participant will learn how to process, store and maintain freshness of flowers and foliage as well as assist in designing and creating bouquets and floral arrangements for any occasion. Package floral arrangements for delivery, assist with loading and organising deliveries and preparations for events. You will learn how to make hand‑tied bouquets, how to make funeral arrangement, how to make wedding and event arrangements. Learn design basics of floristry as well as learn about popular flowers used in floristry.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
The successful candidate will receive formal training in:
* Care and handling of fresh flowers
* Arranging bouquets and floral arrangements
* Funeral, wedding and event floristry
* Health & Safety in floristry
* Sustainability in floristry
The successful candidate will receive informal training in:
* Principals of stock taking and stock rotation
* Customer service
* Teamwork
* Other general Florist duties as required by the day to day running of a floral business
