We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and friendly opticians practice in Portumna, who are seeking a reliable and personable Optical Assistant to join their close-knit team. This is a varied, people-focused role that combines reception, admin, and hands-on optical support. Full training will be provided - what's most important is that you're friendly, competent, organised, and happy to work in a small, supportive team. What you'll be doing: Preparing and unpacking orders, notifying patients Handling reception duties, phone calls, and customer queries Pre-screening patients and collecting PRSI/Medical Card details Taking digital retinal photos (training provided) Matching invoices, submitting PRSI/HSE claims, and general admin Supporting patients with appointment reminders and aftercare calls What we're looking for: Previous experience desirable but not essential Friendly, dependable, and efficient Great with people and a team player Comfortable in a hands-on role with plenty of variety Someone who takes responsibility and doesn't shy away from a busy day You'll be joining a supportive, experienced team of opticians and assistants who will provide full on-the-job training.
