ATG are seeking a highly motivated Ecologist/Ornithologist to join a dynamic environmental consultancy team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting ornithological and ecological surveys, reporting on environmental impacts, and providing expert advice to clients in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and conservation.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct field surveys, including bird surveys (breeding bird surveys, wintering bird surveys, vantage point surveys) and general ecological surveys.Prepare high-quality reports, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Appropriate Assessments (AA), and Habitat Management Plans.Provide ecological expertise in planning applications, conservation projects, and biodiversity action plans.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.Ensure compliance with Irish and EU wildlife and environmental legislation.Contribute to research and monitoring projects to enhance biodiversity conservation.Manage and analyse ecological data using GIS and statistical software.Minimum Requirements: Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years of experience in ornithological/ecological surveying and assessment.Strong knowledge of Irish and EU wildlife legislation and ecological best practices.Proficiency in bird identification by sight and sound across different seasons.Experience in report writing, impact assessments, and environmental planning.Competency in GIS and data analysis tools.Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.Salary: Competitive Sector: Ecology and Environmental Contract Type: Permanent Town/City: Galway
