This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing quality, safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance across a nationwide network of healthcare facilities. The role provides strategic leadership for organisational governance frameworks, quality management systems, accreditation programmes, risk management processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position leads a central Quality & Compliance function while working closely with operational and clinical leaders to ensure consistent standards across multiple sites. It serves as the primary point of contact for regulators and accreditation bodies and reports directly to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
Lead and manage the Quality & Compliance team.
Develop and oversee organisational quality, safety, and risk strategies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all facilities.
Ensure consistent implementation of governance frameworks and best practices.
Quality Management Systems
Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
Develop and review policies, procedures, protocols, and clinical guidelines.
Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation
Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, standards, and inspection requirements.
Lead accreditation and re-accreditation programmes.
Coordinate internal audits and quality assurance activities.
Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities and external assessors.
Lead the organisational risk management programme.
Maintain enterprise and site-level risk registers.
Support teams in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks.
Promote a proactive risk-aware culture throughout the organisation.
Complaints & Patient Experience
Manage complaint investigation and resolution processes.
Identify trends and lessons learned from complaints and feedback.
Recommend improvements to enhance patient experience and service quality.
Audit & Performance Monitoring
Establish audit programmes and data collection systems.
Monitor quality indicators and performance metrics.
Analyse results and report findings to executive leadership.
Ensure data accuracy and compliance with accreditation standards.
Health & Safety
Support compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
Work collaboratively with operational and HR teams to maintain safe working environments.
Ensure staff complete required health and safety training.
Stakeholder Management
The role requires collaboration with:

Medical and clinical leaders
HR, IT, Legal, and Audit functions
Regulatory and accreditation bodies
External healthcare stakeholders and advisory groups
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate would typically possess:
A degree in healthcare management, quality management, risk management, or a related field.
At least five years' experience in a senior quality, safety, risk, or governance role.
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulation, accreditation, and compliance frameworks.
Experience implementing and managing Quality Management Systems.
Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to influence organisational culture and drive quality improvement across multiple locations.
