Role Purpose
The Business Development Executive will provide support on marketing and business development activity across our Competition, Antitrust and Foreign Investment team and our Tax team.
The role will be focused on delivering strategic objectives in relation to practice initiatives; including proposals, events, sponsorship management, client relationship management and client targeting.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Securing Work
Responsible for the production of proposals (content creation, editing, team coordination, branding, and pricing compliance).
Support and assist with implementation of client development and strategies.
Develop high quality materials for use in proposals to convey UK positioning, experience and sales messages to clients and targets.
Ensure that this content is replicated in appropriate systems and all communication channels.
Act as a proposal process ambassador and ensure proposals are logged and outcomes tracked.
Conduct research on organisations, sectors, and individuals.
Events and sponsorship management
Qualifying proposals for new events in line with our strategic objectives and our wider event programme.
Responsible for planning and executing client events (in-person and virtual).
Organising all logistics including the drafting of invitations, managing third party providers, and targeting mailing lists.
Leverage sponsorships for client engagement and manage post-event follow-ups, including ROI tracking
Campaign Management
Support the development and delivery of marketing campaigns.
Draft and design marketing content for internal and external use.
Work with the Digital Marketing team for online rollout, ensuring brand compliance and tracking ROI.
Prepare award entries, legal directory submissions, and explore profile-raising opportunities.
Maintain and update website and social media content with the Communications team.
Ensure all materials follow brand and visual identity guidelines.
Required experience, skills and knowledge
Significant relevant marketing and organisational experience
Experience of working in a legal and professional services environment
Understands when to act and when to ask
Builds trust amongst fee earning teams and wider stakeholder community
Understands the need and has the ability to manage expectations
Interest in working with specialist competition and tax teams
Highly capable of both written and spoken communication
Willingness to take on additional responsibility and deputise for their line manager when required
Sound working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Qualification Requirements of the Role
Graduate calibre with demonstrable and/or professionally recognised marketing or communications qualification (such as CIM, etc).
