Job Profile - Artic Driver
Role Purpose
The Artic Driver is responsible for the safe, compliant and on-time delivery of customer loads, representing Primeline professionally at all delivery points.
The role is both inward-facing and outward-facing, requiring strong communication with the transport and warehouse teams while delivering consistently for a demanding, time-critical customer.
Reporting & Scope
Reports to: Transport Manager
Works closely with: Transport Planning, Yard, Warehouse Loading and Customer Goods-In teams
Environment: High-volume retail distribution with strict delivery windows and site rules
Vehicle: Articulated unit (C+E) with trailer types aligned to customer requirements
Key Responsibilities
Inward-Facing (Safety, Compliance & Internal Communication)
Complete daily vehicle walkaround checks and report defects promptly
Operate in full compliance with EU Drivers' Hours, tachograph, Working Time Directive and company procedures
Maintain safe driving standards and follow all site safety rules (PPE, speed limits, reversing procedures)
Ensure load security and trailer checks are completed (seals, straps/bars where applicable)
Complete POD and transport paperwork accurately; report damages, shortages and discrepancies
Communicate delays, route issues and exceptions early to Transport Planning for recovery actions and debrief
Maintain vehicle and cab presentation to a professional standard
Outward-Facing (Customer & Service)
Deliver to customer locations on time and in line with agreed delivery slots
Represent Primeline professionally with customers; remain calm and solutions-focused during issues
Follow customer site rules and instructions at all times, including sign-in processes and safe unloading practices
Support the returns/backhaul process as required (empties, cages/pallets, damaged or returned stock)
Skills & Experience
Full, valid C+E (Artic) driving license
Minimum 2 Years HGV Experience
Driver CPC in date and a valid digital tachograph card
Previous experience operating articulated vehicles in a busy distribution environment
Strong understanding of compliance requirements and a safety-first mindset
Good communication skills and a customer-service approach
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and follow route plans

On-time, in-full delivery performance and adherence to delivery windows
Full compliance with EU Drivers' Hours, tachograph and company procedures
Accurate paperwork/POD completion and timely issue escalation
Incident-free operation and safe driving performance
Positive customer feedback and professional conduct on site
