Based at Blarney Rehabilitation Unit or any buildings on the Complex of the Mercy University Hospital.
Permanent Contract, Full time Hours, Day and Night shifts.
Details of Blarney Rehabilitation Unit Service:
Blarney Rehabilitation Unit is a newly developed purpose-built post-acute care rehabilitation unit. It is made up of 50 beds located off site from the MUH. It remains under the governance of the MUH. The Rehabilitation Services program delivers specialist post-acute care, focusing on patient-centered reablement to help patients achieve optimal functionality and independence following illness or injury. This service emphasizes seamless transitions of care between hospital and home, integrating multidisciplinary expertise to support patient recovery.
Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for;
* To ensure the Department is managed in a cost effective and efficient manner while maintaining a high standard of patient care
* To offer support and guidance to the CNM2's and staff in these areas.
* To provide innovative and effective leadership to nursing and allied staff.
* To participate in the Nurse Management Team in the effective management of services.
* To assist in the development and the effective operation of all assigned services; through effective forward planning and organisation of resources and workload.
* Ensure that every effort is made to meet National Key Performance Indicators and targets relating to the Service.
* Assist in devising service plans for the area and adherence to budgets through financial awareness.
* Develop and monitor cost awareness and liaise with Supplies Department in the ordering and control of stock and trials of new products.
* Ensure that equipment is correctly handled and maintained in safe working order as per HIQA standards.
* Be aware of all health & safety legislation, relevant to the nursing workforce.
* Ensure that the nursing workforce is aware of health & safety legislation and that the Mercy University Hospital's policy in relation to health and safety at work is adhered to.
* To foster a clinical learning environment within the clinical area
* Use the outcomes of audit to develop action plans and support their implementation.
* Foster a culture of audit and action based outcomes.
* As a member of the Senior Nurse Management Team, provide senior nurse leadership, including analysing and directing patient flow and staffing resource allocation out of hours.
* Provide professional advice on all issues relating to Nursing.
Eligibility Criteria - Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
* Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI / Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann) or entitled to be so registered.
* Have at least 5 years recent acute, post registration full time (or an aggregate of 5 years post registration full time) experience of which 2 years (or an aggregate of 2 years post registration full time experience) must be in the speciality or related area.
* Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
* Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
* Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Desirable Eligibility Criteria:
* Post Registration Qualification in the related area, or commitment to undertake.
* Management qualification or commitment to undertake.
* Previous management experience.
