EHS Officer Pharmaceutical Construction Project Location: Dublin (Pharma/Life Sciences Campus) Project: Large-Scale Manufacturing Expansion Contract Type: Full-time, Site-Based Sector: Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences (GMP, Cleanroom, Process, MEP) Reporting To: EHS Manager / Project Manager Role Overview An experienced EHS Officer is required to support a major pharmaceutical construction and engineering project involving the installation of a new vial filling line, associated cleanroom areas, and extensive mechanical, electrical and process (MEP) upgrades.
The role involves maintaining high standards of safety performance within a live GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily safety briefings.
Promote a proactive safety culture across all work fronts.
Support supervisors and site teams in implementing safe systems of work.
Compliance & Documentation Ensure compliance with: Irish Health & Safety legislation Client and project-specific safety procedures GMP and cleanroom protocols Prepare, review and update RAMS, PTW documents, and safety statements.
Site Oversight Conduct daily inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations.
Monitor MEP, process, HVAC and cleanroom construction activities.
Manage the Permit-to-Work system (hot works, confined space, LOTO, etc.).
Incident & Risk Management Report and investigate incidents and near-misses.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Prepare reports for project leadership.
Coordination & Communication Liaise with project management, supervisors, safety teams and subcontractors.
Attend coordination meetings and client safety reviews.
Provide feedback and recommendations to improve site safety.
Pharma/Cleanroom Focus Oversee safety related to: High-purity pipework installations HVAC systems in controlled environments Electrical & instrumentation works Cleanroom build and commissioning activities Qualifications & Experience 35 years experience in EHS roles within construction or engineering.
Experience in pharma, biopharma, medical device, or other regulated environments preferred.
NEBOSH, Level 7 H&S qualification, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of PTW, high-risk activities, and GMP protocols.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
