Electrical Engineering Officers are highly skilled professionals responsible for managing complex onboard systems.
As a leadership role, you will oversee the design, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of electrical systems across the fleet. You will also play an active leadership role within the organisation, with training at the college to prepare you for both engineering and military responsibilities.
The Electrical Engineering Officer may serve on ships, ashore, or in overseas assignments. After a sea rotation, you will take up a shore-based role at the dockyard, college (NMCI), or base, managing areas such as project planning, equipment procurement, and maintenance operations.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing, installing, maintaining, and upgrading complex electrical systems
* Leading and mentoring teams of engineers and technicians
* Developing and implementing maintenance schedules and procedures
Requirements:
* Irish citizenship or legal entitlement to work in Ireland
* Meet medical, physical, and security clearance standards
* Under 50 years on 31 December in the year of application
* Level 8 (or higher) Honours Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
