Location: Crannog Children’s Respite Service. Crannog provides respite service to children from 6 to 18 years with a wide range of needs including physical disability, complex medical needs, autism and behavioural needs. The post may also cover hours in other Children’s Services including Crannmor Respite, Rosedale School, and City Child Development Centres.
Candidates must be completely flexible and work a variety of hours including day and night duty, sleep‑ins as required.
The Role
Support the implementation of children’s individualised developmental and educational programmes and work with multidisciplinary and staff teams to ensure maximum benefit for the children. Provide clinical nursing skills for children with complex needs. Maintain highest quality of nursing practice and address children’s developmental, learning, physical, social, and emotional needs. Serve as an informed resource for educating and supporting care assistants and family members.

Qualifications/Experience
Current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais). A RNID qualification is highly desirable.
Minimum six months experience working with children with an Intellectual Disability.
Full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is desirable.
Fluency in verbal and written English.
Basic IT skills desirable.

Working Hours
75 hours per fortnight on a 7‑day/night duty roster. Days, evenings, weekends, public holidays, night duty and sleep‑ins may be required.
Annual Leave
24 days pro‑rata per annum. Additional service‑related leave after 5 and 10 years.
Remuneration
Salary scales as at 01/02/2026:Staff Nurse – €37,788 × 11 increments – €54,412 pro‑rata per annum. Long‑service increment €56,032 pro‑rata after 3 years.Enhanced Nurse – €44,811 × 7 increments – €56,200 pro‑rata per annum. Long‑service increment €57,846 pro‑rata after 3 years.Enhanced Nurse / Midwife Practice Contract (HSE HR Circular 022/2019). Once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse scale they can apply for Enhanced Nurse.Additional payments for weekend, public holiday, sleep‑in, and night duty. Location allowance €2,637 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time) when assigned to services with ≥75% severe/profound intellectual disability.
Tenure
Post is temporary, full‑time, pensionable and linked to a permanent staff member’s leave.
Probation
Nine‑month probationary period from appointment. Employment may be terminated during probation.
