Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant within School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering ZeroSpin will build soccer balls with embedded cameras that capture broadcast-quality footage from the ball's own perspective during live play. We are seeking a practical, hands-on Research Assistant to lead the hardware development of our innovative instrumented football prototype. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and fabricating a ruggedized football package that integrates miniaturized camera modules, inertial measurement units, and single-board computers within a regulation soccer ball form factor. Candidates should hold an engineering degree (mechanical, electronic, mechatronic, or similar) and demonstrate experience with CAD software, 3D printing, and general fabrication techniques. Familiarity with embedded systems, sensor integration, and rapid prototyping is highly desirable. This 5-month position offers an exciting opportunity to translate published research into a commercial product within the sports technology sector.
