Technical Director of Electrical Engineering
Job Overview
As a leading International engineering, architecture, project and construction management firm, PM Group is seeking a Technical Director of Electrical Engineering to join their team. This senior appointment will be responsible for leading the development of the discipline in support of PM Group's strategy and local Business Unit plans.
Main Responsibilities
1. PM Group Strategy for Electrical Engineering
1. Develop a strategy for Electrical Engineering across the Group, forecasting and planning required capability and capacity.
2. Support Business Units with strengthening and growing departments, including department profiling, team competency gaps, and associated training needs.
3. Develop targeted SME areas within Electrical Engineering, such as sustainability.
4. Work with Architecture and other Engineering Disciplines to align and develop cross-functional competencies targeting key sectors and technologies.
5. Define and deliver design activities and required deliverables for core sectors, ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently.
2. Digitalisation of Business Processes / ways of working
1. Define and implement a strategy for continuous improvement of Electrical Engineering services.
2. Develop and improve the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform (SDP) as part of the Quality Management System (QMS).
3. Create a Group-wide standardized way of working for Electrical Engineering, taking into account specific requirements in local code and industry norms.
4. Ensure integration of key considerations, including digitally enabled lean design, sector-specific approaches, and design office locations.
5. Manage business transformation projects as an investment cost, with own time managed by the Technical Director.
3. Governance of Design Delivery
1. Contribute to key Sales Proposals as requested by the Director of Engineering.
2. Work with the Director of Engineering to establish a 'watch list' of key projects based on design challenge and technical integrity risk.
3. Influence early stages of design on key projects.
4. Chair Single Discipline Design Reviews (SDDRs) on key projects.
5. Review Project Basis of Safety documents as required.
6. Input to end-of-Concept/BoD 'go, no go' reviews for high-risk, challenging projects.
4. Troubleshooting
1. Respond to critical issues regarding Electrical Engineering design across the Group.
2. Meet with senior members of both our own and customer teams.
3. Agree corrective actions and way forward.
4. Sponsor corrective actions.
5. Keep PM Group management updated on correction action progress.
Requirements
1. Passion for Electrical Engineering
2. Focused on safe asset delivery
3. Bachelor degree
4. 15 years relevant industry experience, with at least 10 years at senior management level
5. Working knowledge of Pharma, Med Tech, and Data Center industries
6. Member of a recognized Engineering professional body
7. Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
9. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
10. Good communication and people skills
11. Self-starter and decision-maker
12. Fluent English
