Medical Scientist Job Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Scientist to join our team in a busy Biochemistry department, working in a JCI accredited hospital in south Dublin.

Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing scientific work to the required JCI Accreditation Standards, assisting in writing and maintaining procedures related to laboratory testing equipment, and implementing quality management programs. They will also prioritize and organize work during busy periods, coordinate multiple concurrent testing, and participate in the Departmental 'on call' rota as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the implementation of a quality management programme that is patient centred and which measures and audits performance and client satisfaction.
* Perform scientific work to the required JCI Accreditation Standards, as determined by the Chief Medical Scientist and the Laboratory Manager.
* Achieve compliance with INAB Accreditation standards and the E.U. Directive on Blood/Blood Products, if working in an INAB accredited laboratory discipline.
* Prioritise and organise work during busy periods and co-ordinate multiple concurrent testing.
* Participate if required in the Departmental 'on call' rota.
* Co-operate with the relevant staff in new ideas and technologies according to the Hospital policies.
* Receive and record details concerning mishaps, complaints and defects in supplies and equipment, investigate the circumstances as required, and report findings to laboratory management.
* Facilitate and participate with medical and scientific staff in evaluating drugs, equipment, consumable items and research projects.
* Assist and co-operate with laboratory Management Team in developing procedures to be followed in preventing and managing accidents occurring in the Laboratory area.
* Participate in the implementation of quality management programmes.
* Actively participate in internal and external quality control and assurance programme
* Ensure adherence to all codes of and guidelines relating to professional practice and including the maintenance of Quality Assurance standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
* BSc in Medical Science or equivalent.
* Possess membership or be eligible for membership of the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science (AMLS) or equivalent.
* Current registration with CORU or eligibility for registration is required.
* Experience in Biochemistry essential.
* Have post qualification experience as a Medical Scientist in Blood Sciences.
* Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a professional and dedicated attitude.
* Have a record of continuous professional development in compliance with local licencing requirements.
* Have an ability to work under pressure, be highly efficient and to meet deadlines.
* Have an ability to be flexible to the service requirements
