Role Overview
The role of the EHS Advisor is to provide Environment, Health and Safety guidance working with the project team. You will implement and maintain the management system for the project. The role is to coordinate all EHS matters within various Project Management Teams and to report constructively all EHS matters to the Project Manager. Under the direction of the EHS Manager, the EHS Advisor will support Project Managers, supervisors, and workers. This position may require being on a project full-time or working across multiple projects, with frequent travel and possible overnight stays.
EHS Advisor Responsibilities
* Provide advice, guidance, support, and instruction in all EHS matters to management, safety representatives, employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and visitors.
* Lead by example and be proactive in all EHS matters.
* Identify training needs, report requirements, and conduct training as needed.
* Audit and inspect projects, and develop corrective and preventive action plans for compliance and continual improvement.
* Report EHS risks, KPIs, and trends, and recommend improvements.
* Ensure incident reporting and investigations are thorough, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
* Maintain and review Site EHS Plans, RAMS, and related documents for compliance.
* Report to EHS Manager, Site Managers, and Project Managers.
* Familiarity with safety statements, environment manuals, risk assessments, legislation, and procedures.
* Conduct internal audits and site inspections, recommending improvements.
* Develop project-specific EHS Plans, inductions, and RAMS, ensuring they are updated and communicated.
* Visit new projects to set up safety documentation and ensure compliance.
* Review contractor appointments for competency.
* Implement measures to prevent incidents at work.
* Report incidents and hazards, and conduct investigations.
* Audit safety files and assess hazards and risks regularly.
* Prepare Monthly KPI Reports and other safety documentation.
* Provide training and information to the workforce.
* Participate in regional and internal EHS meetings.
* Promote the company's Incentive Scheme.
* Manage first aid supplies and protective equipment requirements.
* Issue non-conformances, commendations, and warnings as needed.
Requirements
o 5+ years’ experience in a similar industry, with knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and CSA standards preferred.
o Diploma to NFQ 8 in Occupational H&S, NFQ 6 in Environmental Management, and relevant certifications (Safe Pass, CSCS UK, Train the Trainer, First Aid).
o Internal ISO14000 and ISO45000 system auditor experience.
o Experience with Construction Regulations, CDM roles, and working with subcontractors.
o Knowledge of EHS Management Systems, safety schemes, and tendering standards (ISO, Achilles, SSiPs).
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
o Ability to work with H&F, client, and main contractor teams under strict deadlines.
o Proficiency in preparing audits and high-standard EHS reports.
o Up-to-date with legislation, standards, and compliance requirements.
o Proactive in identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
o Ability to lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis.
o IOSH Member or equivalent.
